for years and years people have accented their homes recess lighting with incandescent and fluorescent lighting and home today after a house is built and wired with this type of light. Before you build, renovate or remodel, you should take into account the LED though.
I'll go ahead and warn you that the front LED is still a bit pricey, but the benefits far out weigh the initial costs. LED is much brighter, truer colors is easier on the eyes, the maintenance is low and almost non-existent. You could forget about changing light bulbs from here on out with some manufacturers touting 17 years warranty and 20 year life span. Shoot, maybe even sell your home before you'd ever have to worry about changing the "bulbs" in the LED lamps. Of course, their is no bulb to change, but that's another article for another day.
With Congressional restrictions on incandescent light bulbs come to your town very soon you'll be forced to buy or halogen or fluorescent so why not say no to those nasty, filled with mercury lamps and go to the actual environmental light, LED?
LED retrofits available for existing home and light the LED "bulbs, but bulbs are tacky and ugly in my opinion. PMS seems natural as it is made to be there. No exposed parts with any retrofits. LED "rope lights" is available as well for those areas you would like to stress, such as hidden in ceilings, etc.
